Once I have selected my phone in finder side bar it indicates "Loading" with the spinning star and never goes any further allowing access to the phone.

I am trying to manage my phone on my Apple computer like used to be possible in iTunes. Now it's supposed to be possible to do the same in Finder since iTunes is no more. Following instructions to get my iPhone to appear in the Sidebar only works so far. If I select the device all that appears is "Loading" with the spinning star. That's it. Does not go beyond that and allow me to see the finder window the instructions refer to.
