Stolen Apple Watch

i think someone stole my apple watch so I turned on lost mode and it says pending how do I know if someone didn’t hard reset my watch?

Then the signal was lost and I assumed it was out of power. Three months later a signal appear on my find-app. And it says that the watch is were my phone is. Why does this happen? They can't unless they know your apple id;
