Why my iPhone 12 does not recognize my iMac it’s running lion 10.7.5 .I’ve used an external hard drive running El Capitan 10.11.6.I just bought the phone so there is lots to learn.I know my lion 10.7.5. Is outdated but I thought my external drive with El Capitan running 10.11.6 would fix this issue any help would be helpful thanks

your external harddrive has nothing to do with the system requirements of a Mac to sync with a phone - it is too old or your phone is too young.
