Blue Yeti Microphone not listed in Macbook Pro Sound Preferences after years

I have been working on this issue for more than two days. Macbook Pro 15" Retina Mid-2015 suddenly stopped listing my Blue Yeti Microphone in System Preferences-Sound, on the laptop. Half-way through a project, I could no longer record.

I finally solved the problem by selecting Quicktime Player Input Aggregate Device in the laptop's Sound Preferences and in GarageBand preferences.

Why? Just why? It's out of the blue. What the heck Apple? I had not created any aggregate devices in Audio Midi in ages. Does anyone have an idea on this?
