ID Update Notification

My Ipad displays a notification requiring me to update my Apple ID Settings. When I open the Settings App and 'click' "Update Apple ID Settings" below my ID picture, the pad immediately responds with "Verification Failed. There was a problem connecting to the sever."

I know for a fact that I have excellent internet connections and have no problems searching with Safari or Firefox. I can also connect to the Apple Store and ITunes. There seems to be nothing in the Apple Help areas around this.

I recently gave an older Ipad to a close friend but have removed that device from my list of devices and have changed passwords since doing so, both on my Mac and Ipad. I also added this newer Ipad to my list of devices and it is listed as a trusted device.

If I 'click' on my ID photo under the Settings main page the right hand section displays my photo and various options, including "Sign Out" at the bottom. This is greyed out and does not function.

Hello Peterfromglyn ceiriog,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you're having issues connecting to Apple's servers to update your Apple ID settings on your new iPad. We'll do our best to help out.

It sounds like you've removed an older iPad and added a new one to your trusted devices. However, you are unable to update your Apple ID settings on the new iPad. If that's the case, we'd try steps in: If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services

After those steps, try updating the Apple ID settings again. Should it persist, let us know if it continues to occur after testing another Wi-Fi network.

Wishing you well, take care.

None of the suggested solutions work. I can use the Ipad to connect Itunes and the Apple App Store which proves my internet connection is sound.

It is when I try to connect with the Apple ID sever from my Ipad that I get the message Cannot connect to the server. That 'link' is under my Apple ID box at the top of the menu under the Settings App on my Ipad.

Many thanks.

Got it indirectly from the macreports link.

I had tried most of the other methods suggested in other articles and decideed to give the WiFi part another try. I switched to Aiplane and mode with no change. Then tried the support/systemstatus idea. I typed the address into Safari on my Ipad and got a response that my Ipad was not connected to the internet, even though I knew it was...all other Apple Service internet connections were working.

I then switched WiFi (WLAN) off and back on with no change. While in the WiFi(WLAN) section I noticed (probabbly for the first time) the section that said "Apps Using WLAN & Mobile Data.

After opening that list and scrolling down I found Safari was switched off, as were Find My, Settings and a couple of others.

When I went back to the main Settings Menu and tried the Updatee Apple ID Settings link I got the required response from the Apple Server.
