I do not want my text to delete I want to keep them to refer back to and my texts are deleting off of my iPhone can you tell me how to go to settings so I can keep all my text messages that I want

I do not want my text messages to delete on their own I want to do it manually how do I go to my settings and make this work

Go to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages and change that option to Forever.

To delete an entire thread, in the Messages app, on the list of messages, swipe right to left and tap the trash icon, then confirm in the dialog that appears.


To delete a single message in a longer thread, tap on the thread, then hold your finger on the message until a menu appears. Tap More in that menu, then the trash icon.


The reason for the “Are you sure” dialog is once messages or threads are deleted, they can’t be recovered.
