Adding photos to an iMovie film
Why is it that when adding photos to an iMovie that some photos won't add to the timeline but if dragged from the Photos app it's ok (though with some loss of metadata)?

It might be that you need to reset/delete preferences. To delete preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old
library to get back to your projects. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
Also, use the Preview app to open a photo that will import and a photo that won't, and do a Tools/Show Inspector/Exif. Compare the two profiles to see if there is any difference that would explain the problem.

Yes, thank you Rich. That seems to have solved it!
Great. Glad it worked. Deleting preferences is a good procedure to try whenever iMovie acts other than as expected.
