Are you trying to back up your iPhone to your Mac? If so, you can use iCloud to make that backup instead:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iCloud


Here's an article for help with not being able to use iTunes or Finder with your iPhone:

If you can't back up your iOS or iPadOS device to a computer or restore it from a backup

For additional help with that message, contact Apple Support:
