Apple Music Play History not syncing across devices

I recently switched from Spotify to Apple Music, and I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max (15.3) and iMac (11.6.2). Playlists and music library sync fine between the 2 devices, but song plays on iPhone are not showing up on Play History on iMac. I have Sync Library and Use Listening History checked on both devices. I have turned them off, restarted, and turned back on again multiple times on both devices but no help - what I play on iPhone never shows up on Play History on iMac (and vice versa). Can anyone help?

I have closed the app on both iphone and iMac and Macbook Pro, multiple times, no joy. I have deleted and reinstalled the apps, I have logged out of my appleid on all devices at once, shut machines down, logged back in, reinstalled, no joy. Recently Played and History on iPhone reflects only plays on iPhone, History on iMac reflects only songs played on iMac, etc. Adding-editing a playlist on one device shows up on all the other devices, adding a song to my library on iPhone shows up in my Library on iMac, it's just the play history that is not syncing.

I just looked at Replay for the first time - I can't think of a song I have played only on one device and not the other, so impossible to tell which device it is reflecting, but my guess is iPhone. I have been a paid Apple Music member for only 3 weeks, so I will play an artist/song on one device and intentionally not play it on the others to see if it shows up. What day of the week does Replay refresh?

Hello, jeff_st!

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! We understand you want to make sure your listening history is showing on both devices.

Let's see if closing the Music app on your Mac then reopening it helps to refresh the listening history. We'd like to see if you're seeing both devices showing up in the Replay list: Apple Music Replay on the web. If the Replay list has music that you've listened to on both devices, it is using the listening history. We'd also success looking at "Recently Played" on both devices too. It should match.

Let us know if this helps.

jeff_st,

Welcome back. You've completed a lot of troubleshooting! Since you're newer to Apple Music it would be difficult in order to tell which device might be missing on your Replay list until you either generated enough time, or you know you're only playing a song on a specific device.

To check this further, we'd suggest reaching out to Apple: Contact Apple Support. We're suggesting this as a next step so they can see why the listening history isn't syncing or narrow down whether it's driven by the device itself.

Kind regards.

My play data syncs in batches, at random intervals. Sometimes every couple days, sometimes it takes 4 days or more. It is very aggravating. I posted my analysis with many details: Ongoing issues syncing Play count and Las… - Apple Communitypple Community

I finally was able to get a work order open and they are supposed to call me back on the 28th with an update.
