factory reset

I am wanting to update my late 2013 iMac, basically as high as I could get it. I tried to update to High Sierra, but told me I can't bc I need 10.13 or higher. I was wanting to just do a factory reset, but didn't want to completely mess the computer up. If I reset it recovery mode will it reinstall the correct OS?

Please follow the instructions in How to get old versions of macOS, there is no need to do a factory reset.
