may i know, If i Erase and Factory Reset my Macbook pro 2010 will it reset the update as well . i just bought second hand from a friend so his up software is the OS X El Capitan. so if i format the macbook will i erase the software as well?

If you erase and reformat, it will erase the software. I suggest you do that to make it 'your' computer, which will help prevent problems in the future.
After doing the suggestion above, use the combo update to save time in Software Update.
