Older Apple TV
I have a 4k and a 2nd generation (mc572ll/a). I would like to continue to use the older Apple TV. Is there a way to update the older device at least to use Amazon Prime?

No on Amazon Prime. You can attempt to update the TV OS installed but if it will not update that is as far as it will go. If you want to watch Prime on another TV, then it's time to retire the old Apple TV and get another Apple TV 4K.

Amazon Prime Video was introduced on Apple TV with the Apple TV Software 7.2.2 for Apple TV (3rd generation) and tvOS for Apple TV (4th generation or later). It is not available on Apple TV (2nd generation). Prime Video was introduced 3 years after the 2nd generation had its last software update (2014), and more than 5 years after its model discontinuation (early 2012).
