Zipped folder not showing up after unzipping

I recently downloaded a backup from backblaze. It came as a zipped folder. I tried opening it on my Mac (27in iMac running Monterey 12.2) but it never opened. I tried opening it through the terminal and it went through all of the files and looked like it finished but the unzipped folder never showed up on the desktop like it usually does. I trashed the zipped folder thinking it’s corrupt but the storage is still showing the files are on the machine ( I started with about 1 TB of storage to spare but now I only have about 800GB free). So ot seems like the folder unzipped and is still on my machine. Does Monterrey hade those things? Can someone advise me on this?
