Watch series 7 with cellular set up in family mode
The price of the watch is not worth it in this mode, you cannot install apps, what good is a fancy smart watch without apps?

No, the watch cannot install apps. Every app in the store has the “get” button greyed out saying “Requires iPhone” and at the same time they market the watch for this purpose. The idea is a parent can set up the watch for their kid with their phone. But once you do the watch cannot run most apps anymore. Sooo, unless you also get your child an iPhone, this marketed setup mode is not worth the cost of the watch.
