mic cuts on and off during phone calls

Just started a month or so ago. While on phone call the mic cuts off, stops working for 10 to 15 secs then comes back on. I know this because I see the mic light (upper right screen) going off and then comes back on AND I CAN'T HEAR CALLER WHEN MIC LIGHT GOES OFF?
