The Time and Date should appear on your Lock Screen. Also, if you have the Calendar app in your Home Screen then you will see the current date on the app’s icon.

The other option is to install the Calendar Widget on your Home Screen. This will allow you to unlock your iPhone and see the Day and Date from the Widget.
