Apple Music

Whenever I pause my music and switch apps or lock my phone, the queue that I’ve added songs to is cleared and the music basically loses its place. I have background app refresh turned off and it still seems to refresh it. When I get back to it there’s nothing in the currently playing section and if I just hit play it’ll play a random song in my library instead of what I was just listening too. It’s very annoying. I’m using the most recent software update and I’ve messed around with various sync library options but I really only listen to music on my phone. Anyone know what to do to keep my queue and current song regardless of how long the music is paused?

Thanks for reaching back out, Isaiah_lamar21.

You mentioned that you're using most recent software version. Could you double-check that you have iOS 15.3.1 installed? If you have an update available, download and install the update to see if the issue is resolved: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If you've already updated or updating doesn't resolve the issue, please contact Apple Support: Get Support.

Hello isaiah_lamar21,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some issues with Apple Music, and we'd like to help.

You mentioned that this happens when you switch apps or lock your iPhone. When you switch your apps, pause your music, or lock your iPhone, are you forcing the Music app to close prior to doing any of those things?

Does this happen when you play songs from a playlist, or are you using the steps in the "Choose what you want to play next" section of this article to queue your music: Add music to your queue to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device

Take care.

I do not force it to close. If I’m on another app and pause my music from the control center, after only a few minutes of being on that app and returning to the control center, there will be no music in the little box and it will only have the play button and arrows on a grey background. If I hit play (which requires more than once) it will play a random song in my library as if I never opened the music app at all. This happens regardless if I hit play or shuffle on a playlist and then pause, or if I add songs to the queue with the play next option. All of it results in a cleared queue with nothing in the now playing section after a few minutes of pausing my music without forcing it to close.
