Apple News magazines: Why can't I zoom-in with macOS to read them?

Can't zoom in to magazines in News on a MacBook It looks like the zoom functionality is disabled in the News app on Mac -- and it pretty much makes reading magazines impossible. The usual keyboard shortcuts don't work either. It also looks like there are a bunch of old questions saying the same thing with no resolution. Does anyone have a workaround? On a side note, it doesn't look like News is available as a topic in these forums, so I just picked something else.

How do I navigate within a magazine on my desktop using Apple News+ ? I am a new subscriber to Apple News+ and wanted to read a magazine which I found but when I opened it the window shows a huge graphic of the cover on the left and thumbnails of inside pages on the right. So far so good. When I mouse click on the article I'd like to read that page now fills the screen but I can't seem to use the keyboard or mouse to advance the next page. All I've been able to do is toggle back and forth between the first window and an individual page. The keyboard advance arrows or scrolling with the mouse do not work.

There are "Zoom in/out" options in the View menu. And there is a Zoom feature in System Preferences > Accessibility. Otherwise you will have to take this up with Apple.
