A device running iOS 12.5.5 can not be an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus. Instead, it has to be an iPhone 5S, 6 or 6 Plus. Neither can be updated further.

Thanks. I was able to speak with apple support and discovered my husbands iphone is actually a 6 plus. Mine is a 6 S plus. I am updated to 15.3 but his has stopped at 12.5.5 Apple support did confirm his cannot be updated. He has an app that requires a higher IOS, but does not want to get a new phone. Everything else he does works great! Thanks again
