When previewing my pictures before printing, they will be set up one way (example: 5 pics side by side from top to bottom of the paper), but when I go to print them, it shows up as 2 rows of 2 pics and 1 row of 1 pic. Why does it get rearranged from the preview to the print page? Is there a way to change that? What am I missing?

Yes, I had...one of the first things I had tried. Played around with the photo size, too. Rotating the pictures before picking them to print was the only thing that worked. Thanks for your input.

Not sure what you are seeing - can you post a screenshot of both screens (preview and print).
You can use CMD-Shift-4 to grab a screenshot, and it is saved to the desktop.
In the custom layout options - have you tried to click the blue arrows ⇄ between the width and height for the photo size to switch between landscape and portrait orientation?

OK - I am seeing the same thing. It is to do (I think) with the fact that the preview is showing the layout on a landscape oriented page, and the print then puts it on a portait oriented page. You can see in the small thumbnail to the right in your screenshot with the preview the final (portrait) layout.
I've not yet found a way to put the preview into portrait format so that it matches.
FYI - I found the following information while trying to figure out what to do! YAY! As you can see by the pics, it worked exactly like they said. Problem solved :)
I noticed the same thing about the layouts being landscape and portrait respectively. When just printing a page of something normally (like through Google Docs, etc), there is an option for landscape or portrait. I do not see anything like that in the Photos app. That's what I thought I might be missing - how to do that. Thanks for your input.
Just checked that and discovered something else.
Photos seems to choose the format of the preview layout to be the opposite of the photos you are printing (landscape for portrait pics and vice versa. (which is why the trick works)

I tried that - it doesn't change the layout of the large preview. What we are seeing (as you can see in the first screenshot above, and unlike yours) is what is shown in the large preview doesn't match the small "custom" thumbnail. It is what is shown in the small thumbnail that prints.
Modern technology...go figure! LOL Thanks again for your help :)
