AirPods location, case vs AirPods

Hello, I have one AirPod in my ear and the other on the case. Does my iPhone show the location of my airpod or the case,? Because I lost my case with one a airpod in it

Hello,

It shows the location of the AirPods themselves, but only if they are within Bluetooth range of the phone (about 10 meters). See this:
