I was clearing everything off my moms iMac and I read an Apple article saying how to clear verything off of it and then I followed those steps and now it is showing a folder with and question mark it keeps blinking I do not know what to do

i tried to use the keyboard but didn’t work out new battery’s in still didn’t work I don’t know what to do from here on it’s just blinking

If it will not pair with the wireless keyboard, the you will need dig out, barrow or buy and use a USB keyboard to access macOS Recovery mode and reinstall.


FWIW most any USB Logitech, Generic or Windoz keyboard will work to access Recovery mode.

Hi, Quentinhutch, i’d recommend you use a wired USB keyboard for startup/troubleshooting… pretty much any one will work… doesn’t have to be a mac one… windows one will work fine, as long as it’s usb. You might even be able to buy one at your local dollar store, perhaps… even borrow one… bluetooth keyboards ( and mice) are iffy and not super reliable for startup/troubleshooting..
