My iPhone 12 Pro Max is not getting notifications

To repeat: BY DESIGN, all notifications are routed to the Apple Watch when you are wearing it, NOT to the iPhone. If yours is doing this then there is no issue. If you think Apple should make it work differently go here -> Feedback - Apple Watch - Apple

The notifications go to your watch, as that’s the most direct, and least disruptive place, to notify you.

Again, think of this iPhone and Watch as one device in two parts, and not as two separate devices.

If you do want to be surrounded by notifications ringing across everything around you, log some feedback with Apple.

If you have an Apple Watch all messages will alert on your watch and not on your iPhone. This is by design.

No, it will just use Haptics to notify you (much more polite). To have it go to your iPhone don't use your watch.

If your audio settings are muted on your watch or on your phone, the settings are muted everywhere.

Watch is not so much separate as it is an extension to the iPhone.
