Airdropping Live Photos

I want to airdrop Live Photos from my iPhone to my MacBook. They are both on the same AppleID so no airdrop window pops up to ask if I want to open them in iPhotos. As a result they just end up in my downloads folder as .heic still photos.

Help?

iPhone 7, iOS 14

Hi Melissa,

Thanks. I know how to airdrop, my problem is that the Live Photos are converted to still photos and I want them to stay live.

There are instructions here for selecting “open in Photos” rather than “accept” when a window pops up when airdropping but because my devices are both on the same AppleID, no window pops up.

How do I keep the photos live when airdropping from one Apple device to another on the same AppleID (so, with no pop-up window)?
