I want to change my Apple ID to my new email address which I changed on my IPhone but the IPad keeps telling me to pick another address. I want to use the same email address . How can I use the same email address on my IPad ad I have on my IPhone?

How can I change user ID on iPad to the same one on my IPhone? I keep getting the same answer that it is already in use. I’m the one using it.

You cannot create an new AppleID account using an email address already registered and associated with an existing AppleID account.

As described, you appear to be using two different AppleID accounts - one for your iPhone - and another for your iPad. You are perhaps unwittingly attempting to create a third [new] AppleID account using the email address already used to identify the existing AppleID account being used with your iPhone.

If so - and you are currently using a different AppleID with your iPad - you just need to sign-out from iCloud, App Store, FaceTime and other services on your iPad. When you have signed-out, restart your iPad - and then simply sign-in using the AppleID already being used with your iPhone.

Sign out from FaceTime

Settings > FaceTime > [AppleID] > Sign Out

Sign out from the App Store

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Media & Purchases > Sign Out

Sign out from iCloud

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Sign Out

Hi 132silverecar,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Your Apple ID is the one account you use to access Apple services

like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and more.

It includes the email address and password you use to sign in

as well as the contact, payment, and security details you use across Apple services.

Once you change your Apple ID on one device,

seems that Apple ID should work on all your devices that are linked to your Apple ID.

Try making sure you are signed out on the iPad, and then see if you can sign in ok using the new e-address.
