Add a new contact to an existing group on iPhone using the iOS Contacts app

I have setup a contacts group on my iPhone. I would like to add new contacts to this group but can’t figure out how to do it. I’ve looked online for solutions but none of them work as I can’t see the options or buttons they say I need to use. Do I have to delete that group and start again with a new group just to add a contact? I don’t have a computer, just an iPhone and iPad. I tired using iCloud.com on my iPad but couldn’t figure out how to do it on there. Can this process only be done using iCloud on a Mac?

iPhone 6s, iOS 15

Hi there Shaun, UK,

Thanks for joining us in Apple Support Communities! We're glad you're here, and we can provide some guidance.

You can add contacts to an existing group of contacts from iCloud.com

"When you add a contact to another group, the contact also remains in the All Contacts group.

  1. In Contacts on iCloud.com, click All Contacts.
  2. Drag one or more contacts to another group on the left.
  3. You can add a contact to more than one group. Drag the contact to each group you want to add it to."

Create and manage groups of contacts on iCloud.com

We hope this information is helpful. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Take care.
