Slow or irresponsive sync in Notes

Hi, I noticed an old problem resurfaced again: the sync between text Notes (Mac desktop / iPhone, both up to date system versions) is slow or need restarting app / re-sync iCloud. There is even a quicker method, modify text and wait for the app to refresh. Is like Notes need to be refreshed manually in any way.

It is not related to free space on iCloud account (I have plenty); slow Internet (I'm talking of devices in a LAN WiFi); huge files (simple text notes); outdated versions of system.

This might be less annoying if notes could be refreshed automatically making a "swipe down" gesture, but that is not working too.

Anyone has this problem? Thanks!

Hey LuisDaniel,

You've done great steps already to try and resolve the concern about Notes syncing more slower than expected between your devices.

Do you have multiple accounts set up in Notes to test and see if its just one account impacted by this slow sync behavior? Change your Notes settings on iPhone and Add or remove accounts in Notes on Mac can help you review the accounts that are set up.

Does the syncing time improve if you're using the iCloud website to create or update existing notes? iCloud

Did this behavior only begin after creating a new folder within Notes?

Hello Sharon,

I tested your suggestions with 3 devices (excluding the Mac mini):

iPhone SE iOS 15.3.1
iPod gen6 iOS 12.5.5
iPad Air iOS 12.5.5

Nothing worked, but I noticed the only device affected is the iPhone. Old devices with 12.5.5 updated in seconds any changes on the notes made in Mac Notes and iCloud Notes. The iPhone is still unchanged; I'm thinking is something about the system version.

Also tried changing the update (Push option, only thing that doesn't appear in the 12.5.5 Notes Preferences panel)

I have the same issue. After signing out of iCloud on my phone, once I signed back in, Notes takes forever to re-syncing every files back in my phones. It has been almost 12 hours, but nothing much has been restored from iCloud. The only way for it to work is keep closing the app, then opening up the app again. Eventually it stopped syncing, then I had to restart my phones several times for it to work. I am busy professional/business owner and have been relying on Notes in the several years. However, due to this incident, I will definitely rethink and reinvest my time, money for alternative online storage facility. iCloud Is simply not doing its job like it should be. What a shame. Also, Apple does not make it easy to report an incident like this, but to vent my frustration on public forum like this one.

Thanks. I updated all devices and freed up some space on the iCloud. This time it worked.

Hello Marcos! no solution apart from the suggestions (reset the Phone, verify the OS is updated, check if device is on...) I suppose that the source of the problem is not even identified, and not enough important to care. I'm using other software right now...

I'm suffering from the same - my Apple Notes syncing slowly - it may take a few days - to get them to iCloud to sync with my iPhone and iPad. Weird. All set up correctly. Latest macOS 12.4. MacBook Air M1.
