iCloud Data Backed up Locally
Is there any way to access the iMessage back up in iCloud in order to have copies elsewhere? In my case it would be to my pc and a usb connected ssd

There's not a way to download or otherwise access the content in iCloud Messages to back it up using a PC. However, you can always send this suggestion to Apple here: Product Feedback
