I've purchased disc space and still getting "Low Disk Space" message

I am getting a weird message when I go to send a photo from my apple photos on iPhone 8 Plus.

I have purchased 200 gb extra space and it shows up in my settings as being in my iCloud, yet when I go to send a photo in a message I get a pop up that says,” Low Disk Space.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thank you.

You are low on memory on your iPhone. And you seem to be under the impression that buying 200GB of iCloud space somehow added memory to your iPhone. It didn't, because it can't. iPhone memory is fixed at purchase and there is no way to add memory to an iPhone. iCloud storage permits you to backup/sync more data with iCloud. I'm going to guess you likely didn't need to invest in the 200GB plan for iCloud.

There is only one way to get more space on an iPhone and that is to delete things you don't need or use, such as Apps, Photos, Music, Files, Messages, Email, etc.

You are not doing anything wrong.

You are seeing the message Low Disk Space There is not enough available storage to download this photo. Youcan manage your storage in Settings.

This message is referring to the Storage Space on your iPhone. The total capacity of storage space on your iPhone never changes. That storage capacity never changed since the day you purchased your iPhone. For example, if your iPhone came with a storage capacity of 64GB then it will always be 64GB.

I would like you to realize and know one important thing and that is that there is NOTHING that you can do to increase the physical storage capacity of your iPhone. Your iPhone's storage capacity will forever remain the same as the day you bought it.

You can purchase ➔ iCloud Storage from Apple where you create and save your iPhone backups and synch (Not Store) your Messages, Photos, Contacts, Calendars, Notes and Reminders. Note that iCloud Storage is NOT an extension of storage capacity of your iPhone. Just wanted you to know some facts.

Having said that, you can choose to Optimize Storage on your iPhone for all the Photos. What this action will do is store your original quality photos on iCloud and a small size photo on your iPhone. This takes up less space on your iPhone while maintaining the actual size on iCloud. This will free up space on your iPhone while making good use of iCloud. If you would like to try this then open Settings ➔Photos ➔ Optimize iPhone Storage : Ensure that this option is chosen and has a checkmark on it.
