Problem installing Garageband Jam Pack 1

I have a new MacBook Pro, and all the Jam Packs, including the now discontinued Jam Pack 1. I've done a clean install of the Mac OS X 10.6 (DVD), and updates, and the Applications (DVD), and updates. But when I try to install the Jam Pack 1, it gives a strange popup window at the end of the installation: "Alert title Alert" Something happened." Following this, I can't update the Jam Pack to the 1.0.1 version, as I've done in the past (installer indicates that I don't have this Jam Pack installed). Is this Jam Pack not needed anymore (or perhaps the loops and instruments are already included with iLife 09)? But then why does it copy so many files to the disk?

Any help would be appreciated.
