charging

my iPad is new and the first time that I charge it, the USB-c power adapter is soo hot when I grabbed it, is that normal?

Your iPad Power Adapter is likely to become warm (or very warm) during the iPad charging cycle. This is entirely normal/expected behaviour. However, the Power Adapter should not become uncomfortably hot to hold or touch.


If the Power Adapter does become uncomfortably hot, you would be well advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad, Power Adapter and charging cable:
