Screen sharing "phantom" app shows in opend apps

Hello everyone,

Today for a second time already (last time coupe of weeks ago) I have seen in the opened apps view a screen sharing app ("Bildschirmfreigabe" in German) like shown in the first screenshot below. The odd thing is that I have not shared my screen or called via FaceTime. When I selected the app, a blank screen appeared, like shown in the second screenshot. It looks a bit suspicious to me. It is an iPhone 8 with all the latest updates (currently iOS 15.3.1). Have you seen this before or have any explanation?

Thanks in advance,

K

Hello superuser1515,

It sounds as though you’re seeing an unrecognized screensharing app on your iPhone and looking to get rid of the application. You’ve come to a great place for help!

If you haven’t already you can search on the iPhone for the application either on the Home Screen or in the App Library, and upon locating you can delete the application using the steps outlined in the following article.

Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

We also see from the screenshots that you’re using a VPN. Do you notice if this app continues to appear if the VPN is disabled?

We look forward to your response!
