Repair mistake - wrong keyboard layout

Hi,

I recently got my MacBook Pro in for repair (the battery needed to be replaced). However, my keyboard also got replaced, which I had not been told about nor had agreed upon, and got changed from a French layout to an Italian one. How can I get it fixed?

Thanks,

Lucas

The vast majority of Readers on these forums are regular users like you. In the English language forums, the majority of those are in the US, happily using using the US keyboard without thinking deeply about other keyboards and languages.

Are you saying the glyphs on the keyboard changed from what you had before? That requires a different physical keyboard.

If instead, only the keyboard translation was changed, that is merely a setting:

system preferences > keyboard > Input sources

You are welcome to contact Apple support, but they will tell you the same advice -- they will not be able to intervene on your behalf.

To get the keyboard changed to the one you used to have, you need to contact the Repair agency you used and ask them to "make it right".

Sorry if my initial message was not clear – I was not referring to a change in keyboard preferences (which would indeed have been easy to revert), but to an actual replacement of the whole physical keyboard. The "repair agency" being an Apple store, I assume the easiest is to contact the store again... Hopefully they get it right this time.

(Also, I am based in the US, hence the message in this forum)
