How often do two watches differ in results from walking. (Two people walking together with same start and stop)?

How often do two watches differ in results from indoor walking. Both people starting and walking together for 30 plus minutes.

My question is really about the overall reliability of the info the watch gives us. If the watches have been calibrated, and I'm getting to one mile while the other watch at the same point is showing .8 mile, it makes me distrustful of the other info such as pulse and or calories burned. Maybe one of us has a bad watch or maybe the technology just isn't that good, but I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Guess I'll have to compare while outside with a good gps lock.

Thanks for the input KiltedTim.
