Why is Google Chrome unavailable for the iMac on the App Store

I usually use Safari, but certain web sites work better with Chrome. I recently began using an iMac with Monterey 12.2. when I look through the App Store I see that Chrome is offered only for iPad and iPhone. Is there a problem? If I download Chrome from Google's play store will I have problems?

Just to add, if you notice, there are no browsers in the App Store. Not even Safari.

Chrome uses more resources than other browsers so it's basically frowned upon. However, you can download it here: https://www.google.com/chrome/
