Safari Bookmarks added on iPad Not Showing Up on my iMac

Recent phenomenon for me. When I add a Safari bookmark on my iPad it doesn't show up on my iMac. The bookmark does show up on my MacBook Pro, my other iPad, and my two iPhones.

My iMac is a late 2015, up-to-date running macOs 12.2.1.

I have found that if I go to settings on my iMac and shut off Safari in iCloud, and then turn it back on and "merge", the the bookmarks will show up. Not that this is so hard, but it is something I have never had to do before.

Any ideas to fix this willl be appreciated.

Hi jimpal,

If you're experiencing issues with your iCloud or Safari bookmarks syncing to a specific device start with these steps:

Once you've done this, move on to the steps below:

"Check your Internet connection:

  1. Quit Safari, then re-open Safari.
  2. Try to go to Apple in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud Bookmarks and Reading List won't update in the Safari app.
  3. Open a secure website link: Manage your Apple ID from your Mac to see if you can access ports 80 and 443. Safari requires access to port 443 to push updates between iCloud and your devices.

Check your account details:

  • Choose Apple menu , and click iCloud. Make sure that you're signed in with the same Apple ID that you're using on your other supported devices.

Restart you Mac"

These steps are located in If your iCloud or Safari bookmarks aren’t syncing

Regards.

jimpal,

To clarify, the Apple ID website and iCloud Services use the ports that are mentioned. If you're able to successfully Manage your Apple ID from your Mac, it should be an indication that you have access to those ports.

Thanks again. I previously did this "off-on" with iCloud settings, and it did transfer the recent bookmarks. However, some time later other ones didn't transfer. However, I didn't wait a minute, shut down Safari, and restart the computer as instructed. Did it this time. We will see if it fixes the problem this time. I expect it will.
