How to free up the "other" category?

The "other" category is taking up most of the space on my laptop (almost 70 gbs) and I cannot click into it to see what is taking up room, so I cannot delete/put in the icloud. I have followed every recommendation for clearing up the other things on my laptop but they take up about 10gb so it doesn't seem worth it. I need to make space to download an update.
