How to reverse an iPhone update.

I updated my iPhone without thinking only to find it can no longer synch with my computer. I have an iMac running Mojave and the OS too old. Yes, I know you will suggest I update the computer but I cannot. I have a $3500 medical program that will not run past Mojave so I am stuck here.

I have looked at other posts where is says you cannot reverse an update. However, is it possible to do something like a factory reset? Or can I install a prior backup to the phone from my computer.

It seems like this must be possible.

Your phone should be 15.3.1, but that is not the problem. An iPhone should be able to sync with Mojave. See→Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support, especially the first paragraph:

If you're using macOS Mojave or earlier or a Windows PC, use iTunes to sync content to your devices. Before you use iTunes to sync content to your iOS or iPadOS device, consider using iCloud, Apple Music, or similar services to keep content from your Mac or PC in the cloud. This way, you can access your music, photos, and more on your devices when you aren't near your computer. Learn more about using Apple Music or iCloud Photos instead of iTunes.
