Logitech "MX Keys for Mac" will not connect to bluetooth

***I have a iMac Retina 2019, Catalina 10.15.7

This bluetooth issue is supposed to be solved by a delicate sequence of key presses but it does not work for me***. I have tried everything noted in the 2020 fix below over to 3 dozen times and it has failed each time. The solution seems to be very fragile.

I have rebooted countless times, deleted all devices and even reset bluetooth, used multiple bluetooth solutions (other machines: laptops, USB BT, BT cards + Wifi, used multiple keyboards and the "MX Keys for Mac" will not connect to ANY bluetooth device I have! The only BT device I have that consistently fails to connect to bluetooth is the MX Keys for Mac. Everything else I've tried works just fine.

Understand, every other device I tried works in bluetooth (iPhone, Android cell, Logitech M720 mouse) Failure is always after I have entered the 6 digit code and bluetooth tries to connect to the MX Keys. I have connected to BT for years without problems. l occasionally get a message "cannot connect to device" when it tries to connect after entering the 6 digit code and connect. This message happens moments after the device showed "connected". Then it fails and goes back to "connect" status. This is looking more and more like a defective device problem.

The Logitech unifying software works fine and the MX Keys works OK. All the devices I disconnected from bluetooth reconnected without an issue also. The 2020 bluetooth solution indicates this problem has been around a while. The so called fix at this discussion link below does not work for me:

Thanks, this was it! I guess you have to enter the 6 digit code, Press Enter, and then Press connect in the pop up window to complete the pairing. It felt like it was failing as I thought hitting Enter would have completed the dialog but it doesn't.

Understand, I bought this KB exclusively for bluetooth use as I am out of USB ports. If I can't get an answer that works this KB is going back to Amazon as a defective product. What else can I do. Please advise. I'd like to keep this keyboard.
