Quite often my SE 2nd gen screen freezes and nothing works and when I press the lock button it dims and after anywhere from 10 sec - 5 min it works again. Id take it into Apple Store but I believe my apple care + has expired. Also I can’t anticipate when it will happen to show them.

First try a Forced restart
Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
and restart the phone every few weeks
Make sure you do not have any security or VPN apps or profiles installed that can inject lag occasionally.
Check battery health in Settings, Battery is greater than 80%
