My MAC Calendar is very sluggish

I have a M1MacBook Pro (2020) with 16GB. I thought it would be faster than my old MacBook Pro from 2011. But to the contrary. The Calendar drives me mad. I have updated to Monterrey 12.2.1. I have read the earlier discussion where the update of the OS seemed to have helped. But not for me. I have not tried the Test User approach to replicate the problem. As I'd rather know whether there is more information on the potential reasons of the problem. I have checked the different Mail accounts. There is no synchronizing except with my Apple account.

Are there any new ideas?

If your calendar is in iCloud and all your Calendar data is in iCloud you can try this:

  1. Create new user account on the Mac to test. System Preferences -> Users & Groups and allow the new account to administer the computer.
  2. Logout and login to the new account, setup your iCloud
  3. Test the calendar performance
  4. You can logout and login to your primary account and delete the test account when testing is complete

If that works then something in your Calendar files in your primary user account are damaged. You can create a folder on your Desktop then move the following files and folders to that new folder to back up your data in Calendar as a precaution.

Quit the Calendar App

Move these files to that backup folder on your Desktop:

~/Library/Calendars

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent/

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarFileHandler/

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarNotification.CalNCService/

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarWeatherKitService/

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.CalendarWidget.IntentsExtension/

Start up Calendar and give it moment to sync the iCloud data. See if the problem goes away.
