Modular face- suddenly missing middle section

I use the modular setting on my Apple Watch. For about a week now, I have been missing the middle section of my watch face. It is completely blank. 

When one goes into watch Settings app, under the “Complications” setting, there is an option that says “Middle”. Mine is checked “Off”. I tap it, so I can change it to “On” but it immediately returns me to the previous screen, which tells me that “On” is not available as an option. 

Anyone have the same experience ever? I’m missing important info, like weather, etc. Would love to get it back to normal.
