I am trying to start an iPhone 6 by backing up to an IPad that has IOS 15.1. I know that the IPhone 6 can only be backed up to IOS 12.1 and under. What can I do to restart this iPhone 6

I am trying to start up an old iPhone 6 by backing it up to my iPad that has IOS 15.1. It won’t accept the backup. Is there another way I can do this?

You cannot backup any iPhone to any iPad. You can only backup to iCloud or to a computer. See: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "trying to start up an old iPhone 6" -- you can't backup a device that won't start.

You may want to reply with more information about the iPhone 6 (e.g., no response when you try to power it on?)
