Screen flashes, like someone has taken a screenshot

My MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) has recently started having random flashes like someone is taking a screenshot of my screen. This happens randomly, and I can't figure out what's going on. I have read a previous thread about the Accessibility option to have the flash when an alert comes through and I can confirm this option is not checked.

I am running Monterey 12.2.1 and have run Malwarebytes and Bitdefender Antivirus, both not picking up anything unusual. Is there any way I can capture when this happens to know what is triggering it? For example, some system logs. It seems unpractical to try to capture this moment by recording my screen the entire time.

Please restart your Mac in "Safe Mode": How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support. Use it for a while in that mode. If you encounter the screen flash even once, please write back for recommendations.

Obviously you have to decide how long to use your Mac in "Safe Mode" before concluding the anomaly is not likely to occur.

Get rid of "Bitdefender". Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.
