Cannot Drag Some Apps to External Monitor

I'm using an Apple laptop, a MacBook Air, as my primary PC for work. I have it connected to an external monitor for extra real estate. Most applications work fine on both monitors. However, I noticed tonight that I could not drag a PDF to the external monitor. I saw there was an answer here which seemed related. ( can't drag window/apps to the second exte… - Apple Community )

However, I de-selected "Displays have different spaces" in settings. No change,

What am I missing?

Hey there perfectreign,

If making those changes to your external display didn't help, you can check Display preferences to make sure you have Extended Display enabled. This should allow you to see and use your content on the other monitor:

"Note: You must be connected to a display to see these options.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Displays , then click Display Settings.
  2. Click the name of your display, then choose Extend Display from the pop-up menu."

Use one or more external displays with your Mac

We recommended testing with another cable/adapter and test to see if this persists with another Mac, which will further isolate the issue and give us a clue as to what device is causing the issue.

Feel free to reply if you have any questions.

All the best.
