Alias in Monterey

Aliases to folders show in the information window the correct original, but lead to the folder "user"!

What is this??

(Monterey new and clean installed on iMac 27" 2019)

Hello Bertold Durst,

If you're attempting to create an alias for a folder, please use the steps here: Create and remove aliases on Mac

"On your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Select the item, then choose File > Make Alias.
  • You can create as many aliases for an item as you want, then drag them to other folders or to the desktop.
  • Press Option-Command while you drag the original item to another folder or to the desktop to create an alias and move it in one step."

If the User folder appears incorrectly for all of the alias folders you create, please contact Apple Support here: Get Support

Kind regards.

Hallo racheals14,

of course I know these standard steps. That isn't the problem. Your link doesn' help in any way.

I contacted Apple support by chat and phone. The first time they couldn't help me. The second time (successful recall by Apple support) I could not reproduce my problem. Some hours later it shows a little bit clearer – and even more mysterious:

All aliasses work normal, when I show the file window as "list", but they always go to the user-folder, when I show them as columns.

Who can explain / resolve this problem?

Regards from Germany,

Bertold
