Default audio when connecting to a device

I CONTINUALLY BLOW OUT MY G*D* EARDRUMS WHENEVER I TURN ON MY EARBUDS OR SPEAKER!!!

This is becoming unacceptable.

How does one fix this? Where is the settings to have the volume much lower when I connect devices?

I plead for help with this issue!

Thank you very much

Hi,

The setting is in System Preferences > Sound. It should retain the last setting you set it to. If it doesn't, Try resetting the NVRAM: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.
