Thunderbolt Ethernet Connection “Cable Unplugged”

Mid 2013 MacBook Air running Big Sur using Apple branded adaptor: After resetting SMC and NVRAM/PRAM the Thunderbolt Ethernet connection status still shows as “Cable Unplugged”. Swapped Ethernet cable to make sure it wasn’t a cable issue.

Does anyone have any additional steps that might help?

It could very well be that the adapter has died or the Thunderbolt port.

It is also possible some dirt has got into the connectors preventing a good contact.

Yo u may just want to get a new adapter. If that doesn't work, the issue may be with theThunderbolt port though it sounds more like adapter to me at this point.
