What is people's experience with Virtualbox? i had problems with Parallels. Too bad Bootcamp is not available on the M1 MacBook Pro....

You'll have to check with the makers of VirtuaBox as to whether or when they will have a version compatible with the M1 Chip. Even if they do, Microsoft has not released to the public a M1 version of Windows.

Your M1 Mac can emulate all the User-level instructions of an Intel processor, using an automatic just-in-time translation system called Rosetta.. Many Applications written for Intel Macs can run immediately and with modification.
However, Intel Emulation instructions are NOT directly supported, so Virtual Machine software and Android Integrated Development Environments, and Microsoft Windows can not run directly.
At this writing, Windows 10 can NOT run on your M1 Mac. Not directly, not under Rosetta emulation, and not under a Virtual Machine.
You need to wait until Microsoft decides to issue a version of Windows that runs on M1 hardware. At the moment, the only one in existence is "Developer-ONLY"
