PhotoBooth misbehaving!

Since switching to M1 (MacBook Air) I've been having issues with PhotoBooth.

I have been to Apple and have completely de-installed and re-installed the OS (Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62)).

Sometimes I get no video or audio, which appears like a blank thumbnail (Photo 1).

Sometimes I get video but no audio (Photo 2) and a weird timestamp of hours on the videos.

Restarting the machine always solves these issues.

You'll notice between these failed recordings there are perfectly normal videos where I have restarted the machine beforehand. As I use PhotoBooth extensively for capturing riff ideas it is very annoying.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey kylefromfailsworth,

We see Photo Booth will intermittently not capture. It also looks like you've taken some good isolation steps so far, but to clarify, when uninstalling and reinstalling macOS was it wiped and set up as new, or did you leave the data intact.

Additionally, if you haven't already, set up a new user account, and then try to replicate the problem there.

Let us know the results in the new account, and we'll continue based on that info.

Cheers!
